Purpose of This Notice
Title V of the Gramm-Leach-Blily Act (GLBA) generally prohibits any financial institution, directly or through its affiliates, from sharing non-public information about you with a non-affiliated third party, unless the institution provides you with notice of its privacy policies and practices, such as the type of information that it collects about you and the categories of persons or entities to whom it may be disclosed.  In compliance with GLBA, we are providing you with this document, which notifies you of the privacy policies and practices of Williams County Abstract Company.

We are Committed to Safeguarding Customer Information
In order to better serve your needs now and in the future, we may ask you to provide us with certain information. We understand your concern about what we will do with such information, in particular any personal or financial information. We also recognize your right to know what information is being collected about you and how that information will be used. Therefore, we have adopted this Privacy Policy to govern the use and handling of your personal information. Our privacy policy may be updated from time-to-time, and you should check this page periodically for any changes.

Applicability:
This Privacy policy governs our use of the information provided by you. It does not apply to nor govern our use of information obtained from other sources, such as from a public record or from another person or entity.

We may collect various types of nonpublic personal information (NPI):
  • Information submitted by you on applications, order forms and in other communications to us, whether in writing, in person, by telephone, by internet, or any other means;
  • Information secured from our own files;
  • Information provided to us by third parties involved in your transaction, such as realtors, lenders, etc.;
  • information pertaining to your transactions with us, our affiliated companies, or others; and
  • Information we receive from a consumer reporting agency

Use of Information:
We request information from you for our own business purposes and not for the benefit of any nonaffiliated party. We will not release your information to nonaffiliated parties except:
  1. as necessary for us to provide the services you have requested of us; or
  2. as permitted by law; or
  3. in the good-faith belief that such action is necessary to
    1. comply with legal processes served on us or otherwise comply with the law;
    2. protect and defend our rights or property or the rights or property of Williams County Abstract Company's users, and
    3. act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of Williams County Abstract Company's users or the public.
Collected information may be stored by us indefinitely, including the period after which the customer relationship has ceased.

We will not disclose any NPI about you with anyone for any purpose that is not specifically permitted by law.

We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal regulations to guard NPI.

Former Customers
Our Privacy Policy will continue to apply to you, even when you are no longer a current customer of our company.

Confidentiality and Security:
We will strive to ensure that no unauthorized parties have access to any of your NPI. Access to your nonpublic personal information will be restricted to only those individuals and entities who need to know such information to provide products or services to you. We will endeavor to ensure that your personal information will be handled responsibly and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
